Is Matte Choker in After Effects the closest thing to defringe in Photoshop?

I tried rendering a separate pass for the floor of my last architectural animation, and then compositing it in in Aftereffects.

I was not able to get a clean edge from the alpha channel of the frames. I Photoshop I would just defringe the layer, and I would get a perfect match. The closest I have seen in After Effects is Matte Choker, and I can't seem to get a clean edge off of it.

Thanks for any advice.

The Refine Matte effect (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/aftereffects/cs/using/WS3bf812c123007fb8513559df126b537c840-7ffa.html) does more than just choking. It decontaminates colors, feathers, et cetera.

are you working with straight or pre-multiplied alphas? If you use a straight alpha 90 times out of 100 it will solve your fringe issues.
