Hi all,

I hope this isnt a redundant thred but this has been buggin me for a while now and I figured I fire out the question in hopes of a quick simple answer.

Im using max 5.1 and upon using the min/max toggle or using the "alt+w" command to maximize the current viewport, the choosen view port becomes very very slow, to the point that its
just not effective or efficiant to work in this view...so as a work around I drag the vieport size almost all the way up to the corner this way I get "almost maximized" viewport that is nice and smooth to work in...

question is, why does the min max toggle slow the viewport down (even with almost no geometry in the scene). and is there quick fix....(this speed problem doesnt happen to all the time, but it does happen enough to throw a tiny stumbling block into workflow..

anyone got a bit of info regaurding this, it would be much appreciated.

Ive seen others with the same probem so I know the problem can be reproduced, If I remember correctly a while back I was watching one of Jasons max VTM's and it happened to buzz during the vtm. He did briefly mention it as a curiocity but then moved on...

Thanks in advance.

*Edit

ps... Im using a gforce 3 card with 64mb ddr, an amd T-bird 1.1Ghz, and 640MB ram, monitor is at 1280x1024 32 bit, 100htz refresh rate.

although i dont think its a harware issue because im sure me and jason buzby arent using the same hardware....

I never had this problem, but I had some problem with track view being very slow while the nvidia nview tool is activated for max. Try deactivating it, if you have it installed and look if it improves something.
Are you using OpenGL?
