View Full Version : Animation: Immune System Visualization

I recently completed this 14 minute animation of the immune system. The DVD is meant to be viewed by cancer patients while receiving chemo-therapy, with the goals of pain distraction and immune system enhancement.
Absent from these clips is the VO. The VO is a soothing, woman's voice. The script was written by my client, who is a retired therapist, once specializing in hypno therapy. So, most of the VO is gentle words of encouragement, relaxation, and inspiration. The DVD starts with 10 minutes of live video of a gorgeous beach, with VO that encourages the viewer/listener to experience all the sensations and sounds of the beach.."Take a deep breath, feel the sand beneath your feet"...that sort of thing.
Once the visuals transition to inside "your" body, the VO maintains the inspirational banter..."Each of these cells is a speck of intelligent life on the move".
Actual references to the specific activities of the cells is kept to a minimum. The goal of the piece was not to teach immunology 101, but rather to draw the viewer into a direct, visceral, personal, inspiring, experience of their own immune system. None the less, considerable research was done, and ALL activities depict real behaviors, though not necessarily in fully realistic detail.

C&C welcome.
Thanks.

Hi,

the first at this time. Your Staff is very cool, the cells look so real, their animation and movement is well made too. I think they move a bit realy like this under the microscope. Very nice work !

Greets,

Esim

Thanks. No staff though, just little old me. (Except for SFX, which were farmed out, though under my artistic direction)

BTW:
All animation, texturing and rendering with Cinema 4D 7.3.
Some modeling done in C4D R8.
DOF done in AE with LensCare.

Good work. It must have been fun to make all of those gloopy balls and shimmery effects.

I would really like to see/hear the ones with the VO; right now it is hard to tell if what is happening is good or bad for the person.

Thanks. VO version still under NDA.
