I recommend to all to tho this (if oyu own an ATI 9500 pro to up :) )

and if is gamming your worried about, well you can install 2 OS, one whit hte modded drivers, and the other whit the radeon drivers

Does it fix the problem with the sculpt surface tool ghosting, and image planes displaying on top of your model?

pyromania - I heard of this, I can say 80% that it will be fixed then... A dude wrote that a softfiregl fixed that problem :)

I have the radeon 9700 Pro All In Wonder. Would this mod still work, and if so would I still be able to use the TV Tuner ?

dude, this is bs, ive just read all that stuff they got about converting, i think this just seems crazy. But it sure will work faster than your video card, but aint gonna do as FIRE GL.

First time I heard about this was on some website that benched a real FireGL X1 vs a 9700 pro.
The only difference in the 2 cards is that the X1 had 256mb of RAM.

Otherwise they performed identically.

even still the 9700 has allways been fast enough. What matters is image consistency and stability.. which this mod will provide.

Its much cheaper to design one chip to do everything than spin 2 seperate designs; one consumer; one workstation.
Then you just adjust in software; or somewhere externally on the board.

nvidia still does it today. Every 5900 ultra review sample that went out at launch was really an NV35GL (which is the quadro chip part number).
Probably because the quadros are designed and finished first; then scaled back into a consumer version.

Does anyone know if this will work with my Radeon 9800-128mb?

I read over all the benchmarks on the link you gave me and the performance increase is astounding! Shame on ATI for artificially subdueing performance on their 'gaming' cards.

I hope it works for me.

One, question... Does anyone know if gaming performance/quality suffers while using the SoftGl drivers?

Thanks,
Kiaran

Does it make multiple monitors work?

i have not tried using dual monitors, but it should work

and yes, the games run worst on this drivers, )i really couldnt tell really, because counter strike is the only game i play.. and it plays perfect)

but again, you can install 2 OS whit 2 differents drivers, 1 for 3d and the other for gaming

and if in any point you want your radeon back, just desintall the modded drivers and install the others :)

do you think the softmod would work on a laptop version of the Radeon 9600? now that would be cool :D

instead of installing a whole OS just for this softmod, would it be possible to use different profiles in say XP. Or do video card drivers span across all profiles.?

For instance you have 2 poweruser accounts. 1 has the softmod and the other has the regular drivers. Then you just switch between them depending on what you do.
