When modelling clothes, especially for cloth sim...
how do you handle thickness? Do you model the thickness of the cloth by modeling the inside and outside surfaces?
Do you simply model a thick edge?
Whats your technique for modeling clothes that need a believable thickness?
Currently, I tend to model the inner and outer surface and wrap deform that surface based on a simulated single sided surface. The wrap deformer is painfully slow in softimage though.
I've also done things like modelled the cuffs of a shirt as thick double sided suraces but have left the sleaves as single sided... then wrap deform to simmed surface.
I'm curious to hear others share their techniques when modelling realistic clothing. Its a topic thats not often talked about enough.. or so it would seam..
