not really convinced this is all 3d really.
loads of layers...in there.
if you go out and buy yourself this months computer arts mag (oct2003issue) there is a metalfx tutorial which talks about layering in photoshop...you will also get a free copy of cinema 6 ce which you can mess around with

(in 3d terms...transparencies..cubes...fresnel...luminance channels...all sorts of messings..every image is unique...really.)

Somewhere in this list (http://www.cinema4d.nl/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=13&sid=2077001251a90a44c42d87e791ec14f5) are some simple but effective abstract tutorials....

With original names like Abstract1,2,3 etc... :)

This is trendwhores basically, with some additional 2D compositing using a couple of photos...

Here's an instant "cool-image-tutorial" for any newbs out there:

1. Add a cube, make it editable (C-key)
2. Select all faces, subdivide twice (check 'hypernurbs sd', 180 degrees)
3. Do a matrix extrude with the default settings.
4. Throw a twist deformer in below the cube in the object list
5. Set the deformer to 'unlimited' and crank up the strength
6. Make a new material with SLA Fresnel in the alpha channel, and switch on 'luminosity' with some cool color
7. Throw the cube into a hypernurbs object, apply the material to the cube and render away.
8. Hey presto, instant abstract thingy!

well i love abstract images and most of my stuff i do is abstract....i never considered myself a trendwhore but then all those head and car modellers never considered themselves trendwhores i suppose!

but the amount of stuff i see recently i'm feeling quite cheap...hehheh.

as with most art the talent really lies with the artist not the medium or style.

this whole montage feel to magazine publishing does cheap my work imho...but then each to their own. :annoyed:

Oh, I hope nobody thought I was trying to be offensive here - The thing is that this sort of quick abstract geometric imagery is actually called "a trendwhore", it's just a word like "icosaedra" or "hexagon".... Do a search here and you'll find several threads about it... I'm sorry if this was unclear.

Yeah, it's an incredibly strange word... I guess it's because I don't speak english natively that I do not really raise my eyebrows over this (other than to chuckle a bit of course)...

By the way, googling like this -> http://www.google.com/search?hl=sv&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=trendwhore+tutorial+c4d&lr=
generates a couple of suggestions as well. Mostly german tuts it seems... just thought I'd add that.
