i don't have a sgi here :D but you should be able to save the map to a file within the texture editor. just select polygon-UV Snapshot. there you can save the file and don't need to grab the screen.

Use the snapshot program.
It gives you an outline box that you can move around and then saves the image you outline in RGB format. You can then change the RGB format to something else using an imaging editing program (fcheck may be able to convert it for you as well, open it with fCheck and then save it out again in the format you need).
I hope this helped you. It's been a while since I made the switch from SGI to PC.
