This is my first Hard Core modelling Challenge. I'm going to be creating a diroama of a Great White shark breaching throught the surface of the ocean trying to catch a seal. i'm going to allow the seal to escape from this one as i always root for the underdog. I've been inspired mt the amazing slow motion films on Life, i think it was.
I'm going to be using 3D Coat for the sculpting, retopo and textures and Cinema 4D for the final render.

ok so i've started the shark model.
The First image shows the basic structure created with the curves tool.

Once i was happy with the layout of the curves i converted it into a voxel volume.

Then i began the process of sculpting with the voxels.

This is were it currently stands. I'll hve to increase the voxel resolution a lot more to be able to refine the fins. the mouth is being modeled open at this early stage to make it easier to model the teeth and interior of the mouth.

Interesting! I've never used 3DCoat before. Seems to have a cool way of working. Good luck!

Awesome, great job so far. Always glad to see 3D-Coat in use. Good luck with your model!

a bit more refinement tonight. I made him look a little angrier with his mouth open in the 'bite ass off of something' pose. I also gave him some gills.

Although its difficult to see in this screen shot the tail has been refined to give it a much shaper look than before.

Looking great if you're going to give him teeth it might be easier to do a couple of variations, in LightWave or another 3D app and then merge them into the voxels, that's how I did my Orc's teeth.

been a bit since i looked at this. Was having a go at sculpting the joker. But anyways; adding a bit of detail, for example the teeth, but most of the work is just defining the shark more. I'm having difficulty getting the fins on the side sculpted, the voxels are difficult to control when 2 surfaces are close together, they just want to join. I'll have to start working on the seal tomorrow.

Looks good adam. I think you've captured the fins quite well.

Began working on the seal today. This is just a blocking in at the moment. I'm having difficulty in finding good reference images of seal/sea lion paws. At the moment they look a bit to much like fins. So if anyone could help direct me to a good resource or if you have good images i'd be grateful if you'd share. If not i'd still like any pointers on making improvements.
