Got bored decided to throw this together. Wanted to see what i could do! Im not sure what kind of a surface it is, maybe on an alien planet or somthing. I hope you guys enjoy it! Unfortuneatly the JPG format desaturates it. Laterz guyz!http://ic2xs.250free.com/Images/Desertwip01%20copy.jpg

I dunno...
It doesnt really do that much for me...
You might just add a texture that fades in elevation or the other way, fades with less elevation...
Plus the light is rather boring and also needs something to give it size or meaning...
It looks like liquid but the texture looks static...
Needs some tweaking,at least in my mind...

Thank you for replying. I appreciate your comments. Like i said it is unfortuneate because the compression kind of ruined it. I am not going to work on it any further. But i do agree the texture is static (it's a procedural!) and fading it as it gets farther from the camera would do better. I orrigionally had modelled a tower and renderd it in the scene added more depth and scale. I can post that too later if you wish to see it. BUt thank you again for your post!

Oh yes,by all means post more...
I cannot get enough of others works.
I mean do not let my critic stop you...I would love to see more.
But still I do think a little more...even to the sky would seem more finishing...
I mean who knows this may turn into one of your best works with even a slight tranformation.
I meant by fading the texture ,whether positive or negativly,is in elevation perhaps...not distance...
Procedurals can be very awesome but you must add life to them and give them depth and form.
If this were even the most mundane of planets even those would have a little excitment.
Even the moon as mudane as it first appears does have a very artist surface upon closer examination....
Think of oils..when in water or even on the ground...even such a bland liquid as it seems...it changes...with every surface it touches, with every thickness of it,the way the light hits it,everything affects it if you are willing to just observe it....

I understand being bored and throwing something together but observe what you have done and then think about ways to improve to give the viewer a slight sense of what you are trying to say.
Yes...at first I must say you were telling me with this..."I'm bored and this is all I can muster..." but there is more there...there is a story even a short one that ran through your mind about this render.A place of solitude maybe...a place of hope perhaps...but you must direct the viewer to this place in your mind because that is what the viewer does....he/she wants his/her mind to be pointed to the story in the render or character...that he/she either can relate to or think about...

Im babbling but yes,more...
