Hey!

I'm glad to have enough time this month to participate in this HMC. I can't wait to see what all you rockstar artists create for this theme.

I'll be doing a Wild West Ocean. Concept art is almost done. I'll be posting them shortly.

I'm aiming do get 3 different existing sea creatures with a high level of detail done, and an environment to go with them.

Cheers

For some reason, your sketches remind me of Spongebob!:argh: lol

Anyways, looking forward to seeing more of what you have planned.:)

Cheers!

Pulled a late nighter last night, started building some props. It's basically just chamfers on most of the edges and random loops here and there to deform the geo to stylize the models. The poly count is around 14k tri's for the three combined. I'll be taking out sections and re-cutting them to send them in zbrush to project them some more pronounced detailed regions, so far they are a bit boring.

Nice work so far! Like the style of the buildings.
With all the little rocks on the ground and the kind of ''walls'' around the buildings, this make me think a lot to an aquarium, am I wrong?

Yeah the pebbles kinda gave it away eh.

Here is where I am at so far. I'll probably start the basemesh for the showcase piece tomorrow...

Hope you like it still so far!

This is so cool! I haven't followed the hardcore modeling challenge a lot and was kinda under the impression that realistic sculpts were usually the focus. I'm excited to see a more cartoon/stylized approach pop up here as well!

So I added some more props. Changed the horse logo to a Fish head on the left building. Added an anchor, but it's bugging me.

Well I've been a bit busy with work and lazy. Sorry for the lack of posts lately.

I'm going to try and finish this up by tomorrow.

What I still have to do:
Inside of heater / Zbrush and texture Shrimp,SeaHorse and lobster/ Add God rays/ Accentuate cactus needles and redo texture/ bubbles and debris to simulate glass/ tum-bell weed of algae/ Volumetric lights for buildings

Have any other suggestions? :)

For the lighting setup, I used 10 spotlights with a small inner radius to simulate the watery surface highlights on the ground that the top of the water surface would create when light goes through. I also used one big omni light on top to simulate the neon effect of an aquarium. Pretty simple! I used 3dsmax and photoshop, and rendered with V-Ray. The modeling took me roughly 30 hours, Texturing 18 hours, Lighting 4 hours and Compositing 2 hours.
