I'm picking a lionfish for this challenge. I will be using Zbrush to model it.

Here are a couple of wips. This was my first attempt at using zsketch. The second pic is the unified skin after a few touch ups.

Hey uinku, good to see you joining. Great start and nicely done with z-sketch. I've yet to have the patience to really use it much, especially for anything but random concepts that don't have to look like something specific.

Good luck with this challenging subject, if you are able to do it correctly it could be a nice model.

Really glad to see someone doing the lionfish. One of my 3 favorite sea creatures. Can't wait to see it finished.

Great start!

ZSketching seems to be very nicely suited for getting started quickly with this type creature. I haven't even touched this new ZB-function yet, to be honest. lol I really should look into it soon.

Looking forward to more!

Cheers!

@TiMrozek: Yeah, using Zsketch was definitely an interesting experience. I really should have done at least one practice model with it before starting on a real project, but oh well. I will need to play with it more to give it a final verdict.

@MightyReg: I hope I will pull it off.

@popflier: I went back and forth between a few creatures, like the anglerfish, before I finally settled on this. So far I think I made the right choice.

@TheRazorsEdge: I had yet to try Zsketch and then this project came along and gave me an excuse to give it a try. Definitely watch the tutorial videos on Zclassroom before trying it out.

Here are a couple more wips after some work on the dorsal and tail fins.

New wips. I finished the lower fins, roughed in the side fins, and worked on the face some more.

Nice work. How did you get such sharp edges on the fins?

@scottimation: I just used the flatten brush.
