View Full Version : arc rotate shortcut ???

i'm customizing my user interface and i want to use "x" for my arc rotate and for the life of me I just can't seem to locate arc rotate in the user interface to assign the x keyboard shortcut !!

Yeah,There isn't any keyboard shortcut for 3dsmax 5....
But There is another shortcut (do it): click " Alt + middle of your mouse(center button) " now you can rotate the view....

Shortcut works for me... although I prefer the mouse trick you mentioned.

There are lots of combos with the middle-mouse-button. Kinda buried in the Help.

MMB = pan.
MMB + Ctrl = pan quickly.
MMB + Shift = constrain pan horizontal or vertical.
MMB + Shift + Ctrl = pan quickly, constrained.
MMB + Alt = arc rotate.
MMB + Alt + Shift = constrain arc rotate (let go Shift to change axis)
MMB + Ctrl + Alt = zoom (see Preferences, Viewports tab, Mouse Control section)
