here my attemp, the first drawing, on 25 minutes, then i decided to take it a little further. The end image was donde in 1,5 hours. not happy, wanted to adjust some shadows and details, but was to late, the animation was done, and i was to lazy to change it, but is ok i guess.
all in photoshop.

Stalllone, the best way to learn to draw is drawing from life and studying books! :) The Daily Sketch Forum is good for practice thy cg-technique. So u just have to combine it.
Junpei, great! :applause:
Wexter, i like the demo. Why couldn't you make an additional frame for the post effects? It could look even greater!

Tried to give an impression of lava, but never worked it out.
Anyway, I thought the result was interesting. Hope you'll think it either...

@ wexter : I love the reflections on the glasses and firehose. You rock man !
@ junpei : very funny one. the flame and wax are so realistic (at what size did you work initially ?)
@ Bjamesyoung : very cool set of character concepts. the 3rd one reminds me of michael Moorcock's character in Hawkmoon (is it an inspiration ?)
Great work everyone.

Junpei - very nice rendering of the wax!
Wexter - sweet! actually i like some of the inbetweens better than the final result, not exactly sure why ... something about the colors i guess, but anyway, good work! :)

Hi, I worked at 72dpi 1000x700. Only use round brush. I recorded the painting process (compressed to about 2 minutes) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRCR_2zB6oA if you're interested.

@ Junpei : thank you for sharing it man !
You have a very sure eye and hand. You seem to know from the beginning where you wanna go.
I don't know if you've seen some of Peleng's process videos, but it's completely different, changing completely the design during the process, colors, etc. (but interesting to see too).
I like the way your wax seems translucid (some kind of 2D subsurfacescattering).
Well, anyway, thx again and well done. :)

Junpei - simple and very moody. I like it. Thanks for sharing too :)
Bjamesyoung - really nice concepts
here's mine. 25 mn took me only outlining the idea on canvas.
PS about 180mn

photoshop 50 mins
edit; i reuploaded my image because i viewed it at work and it was completely desaturated (i have a wide gamut at work) - which begs the question, what gamut are you all using and are you using a browser with color correction built in?
