I'd use particles with some wind and turbulance effectors.

Particles would be the way to go - PyroCluster could probably come up with some thick snow cloud like effects from the particles. You might check in that direction.

snow that would also rest on top of an object would make for a very nice scene.
I'll look into that for you this afternoon and post update later.

thinking partikels is a ad on module on cinema4d - node based programming
takes some time to get into it, but gives you a lot of features - probable more than u need - I think the normal standard particles schould do

i already created a scene with snow covered mountains and looks beautiful to me, only the snow storm isnt there :)
i tried it with particles, but they stay round as the emitted objekt, i dont get this "blizzard"-like look.
thank you for the very fast replies :)

I created a scene for you, you can have it. But I have nowhere to host it.
Maybe I can send it over to you.
Let me know

I've posted it at the C4D forums.
I'm pressed for time today, but you can download it there.
Consider joining too. It's a very helpful and good community.

ph33r squid...dont know how he did it, i think it was PS post effects...but, could give you an idea
yea i am pretty sure squid does it in post.
but good luck I don't honestly know if this has ever been done in C4D.
I don't think so though.
did you want animated snow or just for a still ?

Im no squid but this isnt bad for a small attempt...its animated, but the animation was jumpy, so i just rendered a frame...
Nothing spectacular, but you can see with some rotation, turbulence or wind deformers that it could do something nice...i also like the fact that its not a solid color...it has some color depth to it...though leave it to someone else to make something thats actually image worthy :D

hi again
yes i exactly thought it like squid has it in his mech artwork.
the problem with the one safranguy did is that i havent got pyrocluster :( i only have advanced renderer and bodypaint 1, didnt have money for more modules.
the snow would be for a still, surely coul dbe done in photoshop or PSP. but i'm not that expert in both (nor in c4d ;) )
