CGTalk - vfx breakdown help

How would you record software tool visual elements like tracker points, grids and such for use in like layer reveal vfx breakdowns ? like the tracker points in after effects or the stablize video reference square overlay in nuke.. am I making sense ?..

Ive seached the web and cant find much help on creating breakdown shots. thanks in advance !

Screen recorder software might be a good place to start.
