hey guys - ive already done a few searches in the forums to try to find an answer to this so i hope im not being too dumb by asking this here
im using max 2009 and mental ray
Im trying to render seperate passes to composite my work for a uni assignment
as soon as i chose to render out a Zdepth pass the scene renders with no shadows what so ever - they seem to show up in the first ''blocky'' final gather pass but when it calculates the final render the shadows are no longer there
i had a feeling it was something to do with using a combination of standard shaders and the A&D shaders so i swapped them so they are all A&D ones -- still no shadows
The shadows are there when i do a render without zdepth selected
I dont want to have to do 2 seperate renders of the scene to get the desired results when i should only have to do 1
any ideas please??
thank you
Lee
