In order for us to get inspired for future challenges I will be posting now and then videos about the work of Traditional model making Studios.

This new video I am posting is from work being done by the Prop store in London
to restore the Nostromo model from the movie Alien.

Yeah that was something else. Those guys take on some crazy projects. It's absolutely incredible how much work goes into the model when it gets a grand total of 5 minutes exposure during film (if that).

Roberto the 2nd link you posted takes us to phase 3 (instead of phase 2). Thought you should know.

I wonder how involved in the project the original modelers were. They must have been pretty excited about helping out as best they could.

I remember watching this a month or two ago and i was waiting for their updates on it. :D It's really great to see an icon from that movie restored.

Wonder what's going to happen to it, Museum perhaps?

One of the model maker's or fx artists' blogs who worked on Alien has a series of video interviews with a bunch of the model makers of Alien, and even HR Giger. I'll have to go find it. It's really awesome to hear their stories and what they went through from Ridley.

I remember watching this a while back and wondering why it was basically left in the garbage. Great work they are doing on it.
