Hi,
My name is Juan Cisneros, I recently graduated from Vancouver Film School in the modeling stream. I wanted to share my work with you guys and get some feedback to see how can I improve my work overall. I had previous experience as a generalist beforehand so keep that in mind while you watch this...
Please leave any comments, if you have a chance visit my CG profile gallery...

It's definitely nice to see someone take a different approach however this feels more like a visual effects demo reel with all the body deformations and all the animation. If you're shooting for a job in Modeling your demo reel should show a variety of your modeling skills showcasing all the different types of hard-surface and/or organic pieces you think are your best and demonstrate a good overall variety of geometry types and clean, smooth mesh. It's good to have your character(s) able to deform so easily but that't not going to show studios a good modeler.

Just my opinion but I think based on what you've shown here you can probably model very well, and frankly the claymation style animation is almost distracting.

Keep up the good work and good luck!

Hey,

supernice videos, your assignment is super great. Nice work on the shadows. No I am not gay, but this is great modelling.

Hi phantomworkshop,
Thanks for your post. I did try something unconventional, and also due to a background as a generalist it was a bit hard for me to keep away from doing all of what I'm showing in here. I guess it is more of a step towards something else, but I'm happy with the result and will be looking forward to producing a proper turntable based reel in the future. It is always good to hear what others think, thanks again for your post, and keep in touch!

Hey Juan,

If that's the case, then you did an excellent job and you should easily get work as a 3D Generalist! Good luck and I will keep in touch! Wish I could afford to go to VFS... Out of country tuition :(
