View Full Version : Upgrade Question
Terro 09-10-2003, 05:07 AM Hey crew, got a weird question here. I just got C4D R8 and I already want to order the BP2 mod, following with the other mods. Lets say that I get em all in the next couple of months and Maxon releases a new 3D app next year. Owning all the mods will I be able to upgrade as a studio or will I have to upgrade each mod one by one.

I'm pretty sure that you can upgrade to any bundle for which you have all the components, whether you purchased them separately or together. I'd check with Maxon though--just to be sure. But if you think you'll end up buying all the modules in the next few months, it would be *way* cheaper to buy a bundle from the get-go.

Yeah I know. I liked the demo version a lot but I never expected to get hooked so fast. I regret it now to tell ya the truth, should have gotten the studio. Still not sure on all the mods though. Most my 3d work will more likely be still images so no need for mocca and such. The 3 mods that I really want are BP, Pyro and Advancedrender.

If you purchased recently you might give your local Maxon sales office a call. They might be willing to cut you a deal on a package or combination of modules.

Well Adam , can you give me some advice since your the Plugin adict. Are the 3 mods I listed above worth it. Mainly I'm hesitating on the Advanced render. Do you guys use it, or do you use an exteran render app?

Oh yeah, for me Advanced Render is absolutely indispensible--but I do a lot of radiosity scenes. Even if you don't, HDRI support is fantastic for realistic reflections, and the highlight, glow, and dof filters are nice. Causitics I use rarely, but it's a very nice touch when called for.
BodyPaint is absolutely killer. Pyrocluster OTOH is just so-so. It's tricky to use and not very versatile, but unfortunately it's the only volumetric smoke/fire option for Cinema.
