View Full Version : How to make explosion?
Night 09-10-2003, 02:28 AM Hi, im noob in special effect, the only thing I do before its modeling and texturing.
I see the plugin afterburn, its make great realist explosion, but i cant afford it.
I want know, if is possible to do realist explosion into 3dmax itself ? If yes, do you have a tutorial for this?

You may want to take a look at this site.
http://www.3dluvr.com/machette/ Allan is the king of fire and explosion effects using max. He has some tutorials that may start you off in the right direction.

but what I can see in his tutorial, he use afterburn. Any solution for create a explosion 100% in max?

Before volumetric tools like Afterburn came around (1997-98) we used opacity mapped spheres. While it's not the same, you can get away with volumetric-like effects by using noisey spheres with opacity falloff (Falloff map) and some procedural noise to breakup the uniformity.
