View Full Version : Maya 3d Textures as bump

so this might be a simple question, but how come the 3d textures dont work as bump maps? as a simple example, i created a ball, assigned a blinn, and put a leather texture (in the 3d textures section) into the bump channel of the blinn. render. nothing.

alternately, if i put that same leather texture into color, it works.

what am i missing? this seems like its something that should connect by default and work with no fuss or muss.

disregard. it was the scene scale, size of the object, and the bump intensity being low. im a maya noob, so i dont blame myself! haha.
