View Full Version : Multi Pass without the Beauty/RGBA
xenomanic 04-14-2010, 04:11 PM Whenever I render a single part of a multi pass, it gives me an RBGA pass whether I want it or not. How do I only get a single pass of the multi-pass?
Thanks!

Uncheck the regular "Save" box.

Definition of the problem is:
In MultiPass settings,
Uncheck Regular Image->"Save" and
Check Multi-Pass Image ->"Save"(and the pass(es) wanted)
only render the multipass(es) to file(s).
How ever, Cinema still always do a "full" internal render
(shown in Picture Viewer).
In other words, you can't make Cinema render faster than
the current RGBA picture by only set a multipass by itself.

Yeah, unchecking the save box under regular image was my first instinct. I put in a feature request for this here:
http://www.maxon.net/en/support/get-in-touch/suggestions.html
Let me know if anyone knows the secret, if it exists.
Thanks!

yeh I tried that also. But I keep getting the message that c4d is overwriting my previous rgba pass. When I check the files c4d really does overwrite. The only other way is to turn off the automatic save button and then manually saving out after render. It doesnt save out a rgba this way.

Then you must miss something.
That does not happen here.
There is no problem rendering an extra multipass,
no rgba is over written.

Lennart are you using R11.5? or R11? cause this happens in R11.5

Hmmm, 11.5 for me, and I have the problem of the extra pass.

That makes sense. I find it frustrating when all I need is a single pass of the image, ie the object buffer or alpha. Thanks for your comments!

Yup, but this is known.
For a quicker separate buffer pass,
remove all materials, lights, and other effects.
