That´s actually a grrrreat wip...you got there life & character, for me that´s the highest compliment :buttrock:

I dont like the gross texture of the helmet, imo a better polished metal helmet will feet better, since it will contrast with the already grossyness feeling of facial features and feeling of the character...but this is mi opinion... :)

and free.fr seems to be nasty with us right now... willing to really see the other pics

Keep us posted

That's awesome, really really great. Like the textures very much. He shows a hell lot of character. Facial motions are truly superb. One of the best faces I've ever seen.

Thanks for your critics ans congratulations.

Actually Koroko i'm working on a polished metal helmet (a bit rusty) :-))

And Phoenix, i didn't myself very clear wheni said i used Vray and Brazil. In fact for the render of the different blendshapes i used Vray. And the bigger renders with depth to field are made with Brazil. (sorry for my enfglish but i'm from north of France so .. :-)) ).

i'll send as soon as possible a little animation and modifications i made on the helmet.

Thanks

En tout cas chapeau bas!

cg81
09-09-2003, 10:34 PM

Merci

Re-hi bozo,
Cheers

Tom

Thanks for your comments

for the tongue i 'll make a morph in order to make it stretchable :-)

and for the teeth i'll work on it promise ;-)

RE re re tomaya :-)

Hi,

Well

All as been made in max

modeling : polygon mesh (no patch, no spline)

rendering : Brazil (GI and 3 lights).

And postproduction by layers in photoshop (when i say by layers that means that u can apply this to animation in toshop or after effect)

koroko

I told you about the wires....

Been staring at them for minutes....they´re soooooooooo clean...
and the character has...ahem...lots of character...
Someone will mention the use of tris there...but not me, i´m no purist, if it works it works, anyway I think tris are laid intelligently there....
About the ani, mkay he´s 2000 year old and the muscle of the lips are so worn away that are not stretching back as he close(lips look like fabric, from the movement)...lets forget it!! :) .....cause i´m loving the BROWS & the feeling is absolutlly like skin & muscle deforming..... BRAVO!

Thanks for some inspiration after siesta ;)

i wanna see more without paying if posible.... :)

cg81
09-10-2003, 07:03 PM
Hi Koroko

Thx for your comments :-))

Well for the tri. That's true that tri are not very nice when u smooth (except for Maya and now the smooth of max5 is better).

But Tri are really better at precise place on a face or body. That's more flexible. Quad are restrictive but i always do my best to get less tri i can :-)) .

For my old anime on my old character i know there is many things that don't work :-))

Simply because at this time i didn't take the time to simulate muscles and also correct the skin with active morphs. ( i made dthe modeling in 2 days and the skinning and blenshapes in one afternoon ... i really made it for fun very quick)

For the little story i wanted to take my old modelling and change the skinning and the blendshapes. But it was too hard to change
the original model. So i decided to make an other character it was easier for me :-) .

Thanx

and if you have others comments or critics about my work don't hesitate ;-)

bravo Bozo! :)

I´m aware they are lightning tests, but they look fantastic...

Texturing is great, even with that few variations on the color map...bump map there works great...

I´d love if you could post the maps, or share a little what your procedure was to paint the maps...

I´ll appreciate that...

Keep them coming, dont stop the fun!

Thanks Koroko

The fact is that my maps are patchwork of skin scann i made and specialy a mix of different kind of picture i scan or find.

For example, the forehead come from Clint Eastwood. A other part is Gerard Depardieu or Jacques Dutronc

i've just made few corrections the skin of my creature is similary to Frankenstein to be true :-)

...right?!

Hi everybody

This is a little test for the skin. I'm gone to work a displace map to add imperfections on the skin (like scares, things like that).
I have also to finish to the corner of the eye.

Hope u'll like it.

Thanks Bozo for the info,

The newest image texture is nicer i think, but i´ll drop a little the DOF, too strong...anyway they´re test, right?

Maybe adding more to the color map will be nicer...right now seems there´s almost none...

Slightly more dirty to the teeths could be nicer...

Keep it up, are you modelling the body?

Thanks Koroko for your advice. I'll do the corrections when i'll get the time :-). And yes it's just few tests. The final render will be for the "final" animation.

Yes i start the modelling of the body but i don't know yet what kind of clothes i could put on him. If u get an idea or references, i take it :-) .

Thx

thanks for all your crits give me many ideas and others ways too look my creature.

I'll try to answer you Kiko as soon as possible (i'm searching job for the moment so i don't get much time for me). But to be clear, my method is simple :

1) I skin with few bones the head.

2) I add bones as muscles (stretchable bones) in the skin.

3) Finaly i make 2 blendshapes in order to correct the skin when the mouth is open and when it's close. (those two blendshapes works with the angle of the bones of the mouth in order not to active them manually)

4) make several blendshapes to get expressions

kiko3d
09-22-2003, 09:42 PM
Thanks for your reply, but I still don´t get how you do it with blenshapes in max? You mean morphing? Don´t worry if you can´t answer me fast cause I got msn messenger and if your ok with that we can talk there: kiko3d@hotmail.com You know I need to learn from other people because here in spain is not easy to get a good education in this subject.

Hello there,

I've change my map. Put some color and little defauts on the skin.

I've many things to change (teeths, and many details to add on the skin, make the transluscence, etc...).

If u get ideas or critics about the textures and the lightning there are welcome

Great model, great texturing, and great expressions! can't believe it is not plugged yet. On the last attempt though the tongue seems like floating on the air. It should be much lower.
And maybe you've overdone it a little bit, with the bump and the skin pores.

cg81
09-27-2003, 10:38 AM
Thanks for your critics it help me a lot.

For the bump i know it's a bit strong. And for the tongue i think it's a little problem of lightning because we can't see in the mouth. I'll try to fix that for the next renders.

Tx ;)
