drawing metal is one of the things where i still have the greatest mental barriers,
but at least i'm already aware that i'm wasting half the time i'm drawing metal thinking "oh shit this is never going to work ..." instead of getting it done :)

Wexter - cool idea with the turtle back!!

yes, metal is difficult to draw, but the best is pick a reference of the metal you want to paint before you start painting, and watch the enviroment where the metal is placed. A big part of metal is the reflection of the enviroment, thinking metal as a mirror. is dificcult for me 2! but i do what i can, an then u can add dirt or corrosion in a separate layer playing with blending options. Hope my help is usefull in some way for u.

Great sketches guys. Here's what I have at the 50 minute mark, think I'll continue on with it though, may post up something more if I get anywhere with it.

some aspects i like better, but i kinda went over the top with the "exposure" and totally lost the depth of the form along the way ... wellwell practice, practice, practice ... :)

brookselliott - hehe creepy stuff!

40 min in Painter

Mostly trying to play with the Watercolor and Digital Watercolor brushes here and having problems because they can lag pretty badly if I make them as large as I wanted to. Finished up with a Gouache brush.

switchstance - ya, Armadillos are pretty creepy looking if you see em up close and I thought it was kinda appropriate to put real armor on an armadillo since they have a natural armor.
Armor is a tough thing to sketch especially in such a short time and make it look like armor since shape alone may not be enough but it looks like you captured it pretty well with shape and some great texture.
