a couple books I'd add to that list are

Advanced Rigging and Deformations (http://www.amazon.com/Inspired-3D-Advanced-Rigging-Deformations/dp/1592001165/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1271451390&sr=8-1) by Brad Clark. (you will still need to think a bit as there are parts left out of the tutorials and some typos).

Maya Character Animation (http://www.amazon.com/Maya-Character-Animation-Jae-Jin-Choi/dp/0782143288/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1271451459&sr=1-1) by Jae-Jin Choi (even though this is written for Maya 4.5 it is still a good resource.)

Inspired 3D Character Setup
http://www.amazon.de/Inspired-Character-Setup-Michael-Ford/dp/1931841519

Mel Scripting a Character Rig
http://www.amazon.de/Character-Rig-Maya-Modeling-Animation/dp/0321383532/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books-intl-de&qid=1271685374&sr=1-1

This will be part 3 of
"Stop Staring - Facial Modeling and Animation Done Right"
( but so far not available yet )
http://www.amazon.de/Stop-Staring-Facial-Modeling-Animation/dp/0470609907/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books-intl-de&qid=1271685408&sr=1-1

best of the best reference you get for rigging related study is ....
Jason Schliefer's DVD series.....No substitute for this if you are doing rigging in maya....

And if you are doing rigging in max the there is Paule Neale's tutorials....

But any ways Jason's tutorials are far best than others....it unlocks your minds potential...
The principles are applicable to any software....
Best of luck...

Thanks guys, I'll be animating in Maya using bones so any recommendations for DVD'd/books that deal with these for beginners would be greatly appreciated.
