hi,
i'm using a surface shader to attain glow for some of my turbines. everything looks good as long as the faces look towards the camera, like this:

But as soon as the camera doesn't face them, they don't glow. Here's an example:

Why is this? Is there another usual way to get a glow shader? The same problem appears when I use a Blinn shader instead of a Surface shader and use the Glow effect of the blinn.
I am using Maya 2009 and render with Mental Ray
