But that is gonna be really hard to pull off well in 3D :surprised A lot of work is to come....
Good luck! :)

MrMark:
Thanks for the great compliment . . I'm quite happy with my concept to. But I wouldn't recommend you my mind. ;)
Leigh:
Yea it sure will be a hell of a job. That is why I won't texture it, I think!. I'll start texturing when I'm satisfied with my modelling and I still have a lot to learn of modelling.
With the help Equinoxx I overcome some point's with 3DMAX which now will make it a lot easier for me to work with it.
Unfortunately I only can work on it during the weekend, my final test are coming up in 2 weeks and then I have to reexam the things I didn't pass this year. busy busy BUSY!! (<-- How is this written? >>)
But I just couldn't miss this . cool . challenge

Before starting to tell my story about my idea I first have to post a new link to a less gigantic pic, The first one was extremely gigantic
LINK:
http://www.freewebz.com/iguiniz_x/may_June_challengeC.jpg
The idea is that the ball in the hand/ tree hand is a world apart.
If you go inside you can enter the house and in the house is a table with the same hand and a same ball in the hand. If you go inside that ball you can enter the same house as you just entered were the ball was in the hand on the table and so on.
then if you enter the ball you see the whole world and you can't see the inside ball of the ball. Then you have a path that comes from the South and leads North. If you folow it you end up coming from the south and see the same house again.
The owner of the house is a dwarf, or so. He can exit the imaginary cyclus to chop some wood elsewhere ( I think it is called, visueuze circel, of zo iets, in de buurt)
I hope my story is clear enough to make it understandable it.
MrMark:
Leigh sure posts fast :applause: Her dedication to the forum is great fabulous got no words for it :surprised

i like it very much
makes you think hey?
dude if you made a movie of the flying into the ball then into the ball inside that ball and so on it would be something very special!!!
but for now concentrate on modelling!
cant wait to see this story unfold!
good luck!

MrMark:
I might wanna do that. ( making the movie you sugested)But I'll first focus on the house and the tree's then if that worked I'll model the interior of the house.
I already thought about that. So maybe if I draw it and might wanna post it.

My problem is that I made the walls wth the hole with a spline then I extruded them with the editble mesh.
I know that I can flip normals but you see in the image below that eighter way I can see through some parts of th estructure.
Same happends if I stand in the house I can see through teh walls.
how can this be done so I have a loid mass. ( no peeking through things.)
Can thsi be chaced with the shapes I've made know or do I have to start all over and do it in a other way. if so please explain. Maybe PM or mail me.

Now I'll make some corrections.
I think all is clear but because of the fast writing I switched some letters and the Space is in some places wrong.

I made some progress and I chanced the trees as you can see.
I want to make the leaves of the tree with a particle sytem but I never made use of one and in the book I have the are quite bad explained. Is a particle system the right way to make the leaves? or is there a other better way.
If the paritcle system will do than do you know a tutorial or a site were they are explained good?
Thanks

It is just that I'm really tired :scream: and tomorrow morning I want to see the match Argentina Vs I dont;t remember who at the moment. Tomorrow I reply more.
here I added a new tree update. I tried to make them look more as in my consept scetch and I think I'm happier with the new trees. Tell me which trees you like most. I photoshoped the leaves. ( It is really ugly, but I never photoshop) But it gives a bit the impresion what I want it to look like.

Thanks for colloring my avatar. I might wanna put it as my new.
If you look good you see that it isn't a new one. Actually it is the same image but then zoomed out. On advise of Equinoxx ( he made the new avatar) See the attachement for the full version of the drawing.
I might need your help with the leaves. (Particle systems) Not this weekend but next or in 2 weekends. Got tests coming up so I should e learning. Should be.
ZrO-1:
I don't know if you read the idea arround the image but if you go inside the ball it is like a normal forest. But for the final image I think I go for the hand with the ball in it and in the ball the forest.
But feel free to read the idea on the first page.
Guess what?
I was sleaping in my comfy bed while the game was going on. Darn!

And it's really hard to specify the genre. I would say philosophic drama... but that's not right either... at least it's not an action movie :D <-- notorious movie freak
nice work btw. i've been thinking about putting something toghether as well, but i don't think i have the time.

"quite hard to get some help"

your hand is looking better!
you might want to look again at the "balls" of the palms. they should have more mass and protrude at the base of the fingers, especially the thumb.
this also applies to the back of the hand, but at different levels.
the middle finger is the Star of the show, and protrudes most, with those at its sides coming in second, whereas at the palm, the thumb,s base would have more mass.
mrmark
06-10-2002, 03:56 AM
your doing very well!!
did you use character studio or the bones?
you must be a very fast learner for only using max for one and a bit months!
when i was using it for one and a bit months my best work was a sphere with sum vertices pulled around to make it look sharp!
keep it up
cant wait to see more

maybe make the hand more skinny and more bones around the knuckles would make it look more creepy:)
Iguiniz.X.
06-11-2002, 02:10 PM
Levin:
He thanks.
Yes your right. it is kind of floating in the air right now.
and with adding mass of the tumb at the palm, were it is looking if there is a gap righ now, the ball could be palce better in the hand.
I got no clue what protrude is but I think it is that te weight of the ball is pushing the finger .
MrMark:
No didn't use character studio. I used bones and then addd the skin modifier. then animated the bones activated the skin and voila.
Thanks
I see you updateed it looking good :wip:
unforunatly there ain't that much replies :hmm:
jeotero :
Yes a skinnier hand would look more creepy but I think I adjust this hand so that he realy holds te ball and then when i find some spare time I make a more boney hand.

I would number two because the lighting is more natural that the other one, but I think it does need a lot of work. Expecially beace the light is coming from the opposite direction of the camera which leave the viewer with a lot of shadows... Maybe If you combine the two lighting set ups it may work.... (ooh don't forget to put the "shadow" on of the light inside the house!)
...:wip:
Iguiniz.X.
06-15-2002, 02:18 PM
In the first image I didn't selected:cast shadow from in the house so you could see the trees and it is a screen shot (not rendered) no wonder the light is better in the second one.
Yes I think I'll try the 2 lightings setup.
I tried to render in Brazil so the light would be calculated better, but I machine get jammed because I' ve way to little RAM (128) and I have lots of leaves and grass. which in some weard way can't be seen.
In the second image I like the contour of the tree and that the other tree is lit at the side. But your right it should have more light. Tonight I'll work on it.

I won't be able to get to my CPU before the challenge ends so I made this page incase I'll be taken to the vote.
I'm far from finished like I never began with texturing but my intention was to moddel first in the hope I could finish that.
I'll finish it for myself and maybe post a threath of it on the WIP page. The page looks a bit quick added but we got here on college on the worst PC's Photoshop. so it works reeeaaallly slow.
Good luck for the rest who can finish the challnege.

it looks kinda too dark to me but i could be that my monitor profile is a bit wrong. maybe you should add some visible light coming out of the little house. that would give the image a more mystical touch. and i would suggest to desaturate the colour of the big trees in the background. anyway i'm really looking forward to see an update!

To bad that you can't finish your challenge man. I was looking forward to it.
I tried a star sky but it made the trees look bad but maybe I have to use big stars. Got any nice star backgrounds?

Well it is in the night offcourse, but I had many coments on that my pic is dark. I tried some light things but I can't find a way to make it lighter with out loosing that it is night.
If you got any sugestions OR IF SOMEONE HAS, please post them
I've put a light behind the window and I'll try to put it in the other to but I don't think it will chance.
Well try to put the contrast off your screen to 100% Aswell as your brightness. brightness maybe 95% but I've it like this.

In the other (pic’s above) san pic’s I had Omni’s
Here are some tests I made.
In
1. I had a targetspot with the strength on 1.4 and a Omni on the other oposite side of the moon wit a 0,1 strenght.
2. I had a Targetspot with the strenght on 1.0 and the rest is the same as 1.
2 is the best I think it is darker but i1 has more a feeling of beeing in the sun with a moon on the background.
Iguiniz.X.
06-23-2002, 10:09 PM
Here are 3 and 4
3. Is a Omni on strengt 1.0 and the rest is the same as 1.
4.Is a targetspot but with blue light, I don’t know if this one gives a more night feeling.
Here I go for 4. this is because the Omni makes it really light and 4. does give the night feeling.
Then I can’t choose between 2 and 4. I think once in the ball 2 will do best but 4 also gives me a night feeling. I don’t know.
Iguiniz.X.
06-23-2002, 10:17 PM
I forgot to tell that I made these tests with my
Brightness on 80% and my Contrast also on 80% and I could see it clear.
If people still see it bad and dark then I'll photoshop them and make them more bright.
Here is an other pic which gives you the idea on how it lookes from far,You just only have to imagine a ball and a hand arround it.
Maybe I write this on the pic if I can't finish it before the chalenge ends.
Just imagine the rest arround it and I think you like it.:p

I think the scene looks pretty good for going into the crystal ball. One question though, how are you planning on getting your trees and house scene in the ball? Will it be done in 3D or in post? Also, I think the house might be so small once you do combine them that it might get lost. I would try making it twice as big as it is now.
Just my 2 cents...

Iguiniz.X. - please stop posting updates - the challenge officially ended yesterday! :shame:
If you post anymore updates, that would be considered cheating, and any pictures you post will have to be deleted...

Hey sorry Iguiniz.X., I didn't mean to sound unkind - I wrote that in big letters for the whole sort of "voice of god' effect :p hehehehehe
I wouldn't ever be unkind to people who have made a big effort for the challenge! :)
