View Full Version : Vue to Modo
TimeActor 04-07-2010, 10:15 AM Hello @all this is my first post here and please be patient with my english and the "beginner" question:)
Im using Vue 8 xStream and Modo and want to combinate them for my workflow.
Is it possible to use vue scenes in modo or reverse?
Thanx a lot

Hello Martin,
I'm also a vue xstream owner and I'm lurking at modo.
Some sure things:
1) you can't use a vue scene in modo the same way as you would in C4D, Max, Lightwave ... since they are no xstream plug-in for modo
2) you can render a spherical sky from vue and use it in modo.
3) you can export some elements from vue and use them in modo (provided they are not content protected which forbid the export)
4) you can easily export whatever you make in modo to vue (not a full scene obviously but your models, textures and so on)
After that, I guess it's all depends on what you need the most. By that I mean, if the environment you create in vue is the most important part of the scene, it's probably better to export your content from modo and import it in vue when you want to make a render
It would obviously be great to have a modo xstream plugin in the future since modo seems to be a very capable program for architectural modeling (and of course much more than that) but I guess it greatly depends on how easy it is to interface both programs and how well you can get both render engine to collaborate together.
Another solution of course is compositing. It's not always easy, but people who master compositing (I'm not one of them) ends up with much more flexibility and ultimately a lower render time since they are able to do a lot of work in post.
One side note: Take a look at the "Terrain" category in the Luxology image gallery, and start dreaming like me at what a killer combination modo and vue would be :)

Hello Abraham,
many many thanx for the answer!
So i´ll find a solution for me as your tipps. That would be great to have a XStream Plug In for Modo.
I´m using Vue 8 XStream for Cinema 4D but i want work with Modo.
Regards
Martin
