View Full Version : Enforcement on dynamic-constraint not working?
DeeJay 09-08-2003, 02:05 PM Hi there!
I just figured out that the enforcement setting for the dynamic-constraint is not working the way it should.
Something wrong with my project or does this also happen to some of you?
There seems to be only "on" (100%) and "off" (<100%) and no gradient between it.
Would someone be so kind checking it with their A:M v10.5h?
Thanks!

DeeJay,
I just checked the rigid body dynamics in both 10.5h and 10.0n, on both systems, I have an enforcement that is basically 2 state, on and off.
If I set the enforcement to 0%, it is off. Anything over that, it is on.
I guess this is the way it is supposed to work, although it would have been better (in my opinion) if Hash had just given us an ON/OFF switch for it.

Hi Pengwin!
I didn't talk about the rigid body dynamics, my topic is about the "dynamic"-constraint. AFAIK they're two different approaches and calculations, aren't they?
But thank you for checking it!

DOH!!!
That'll teach me to read posts properly. :banghead:
I haven't played with the new dynamic constraint yet, I'm still using the spring system. I'll have a play with it tonight and let you know what I find.

It's the same thing with Rigid Bodies and Dynamic Constraints. either they are simulated or they are not... I can't really see how something can be partially dynamic...
If you want the dynamic bone to be less springy animate the stiffness property of the dynamic constraint rather than the enforcement.
Oh! the reason, i think, you have the enforcement as a percent is that since both these items are technically constraints, they just use the default set-up for constraint properties, which includes a percentage of enforcement... On/Off would make more sense.

Hmmm... ok, let`s get deeper.
I've rigged a trunk with full control and maintaining the correct volume if you stretch or squash it. Anyway, it also has to "jiggle" a little bit.
At some points, I don't want to have full control about the trunk (-> dynamic-enforcement 100%) and sometimes I want to have at least half the control of it (-> dynamic-enforcement 50%).
Any workarounds for this?

Solved the problem. I had to check the "apply before action" button for the control-bone that's translated to the dynamic-bone. No I'm able to control the enforcement of the "translate to"-constraint.
Man, I've drunk to much beer...
