Hi!

I was trying to do a rail bevel/extrude?? but it didnīt work the way I wanted. I had a rail in bg-layer and a disc in front-layer and then I hit rail extrude and this happened :

Why didnīt it follow the rail all the way?

First, I'd say that's a messy rail
Make it simpler at corners, don't need all those points....

I guess your path is made of severall polys, so select them all and hit Shift Z (to merge them in one single curve).

Thanks, FD!

I made the rail with bezier tool. Is there a better way of doing this kind of rail?

Bezier tool is fine. You'll just have to edit the spline for removing unwanted points. I think you can low the 10 points default spline resolution in Option (o) panel (or was it Display (d) ? ) if you need.

You can also draw points (+) and hit ctrl P (or ctrl O) (Open / Closed curve).

Anyway, always try to have the simplest curve with minimal points, that's better for editing, everything is cleaner, etc....

As I recall the Bezier Spline tool actually creates a separate spline for each control point you create by clinking in the work area. It also creates alot of intermediate points -- I don't use it.

In terms of defining its path, Rail Extrude will only extrude along a single path/curve (at a time). Select discrete pairs of curves and press the Z key join them until you have a single contiguous curve.
