Hey all! I haven't done a challenge since the PA subject, so this should be a lot of fun! :bounce:

What I'm planning is a forest scene centered on a dark, shadowy hole, surrounded by huge trees. Roots will wrap around it, and a little light might come out of it... who knows what could dwell inside?

Yeah cool idea! :thumbsup: Maybe a troll or something could live in the dark hole? Are you going to cover the little mound will cool grass?? Like Shrek-style? And you could have all the trolls cooking pots lying around with human bones :buttrock:
This kind of scene allows for really cool detailed textures on those big trees :bounce: You should really model some cool huge roots for them...

I'm just throwing things together right now, getting a feel for the scene. I'll go back and refine things before adding to it, but for now it's just a rough wip.

I haven't seen Shrek, although I know I should, and I'd appreciate it if you tell me when I'm getting too unoriginal. Don't ya hate it when you make something and then somebody digs up a reference to something just like it? Originality is well-night impossible, I tell ya. But hey :shrug:

Hey that's looking better already :thumbsup:
Some of the bones do look a little flat though, but that's a small thing to fix. Those twisted branches on the mound look very cool :)
You know what else would be cool? A washing line with the trolls laundry hanging on it - with little pegs made out of bone or something. Just an idea ;)
I still think your trees need some huge twisted roots...
You really should see Shrek - it's a great film!! And it could be a great inspiration to everyone in this challenge too! Go rent it from the video store this weekend - you won't regret it ;)

Coming along nicely.
Maybe you could open up the trees a little more so you can see way into the distance and show just how deep and dense the forest is.
