i recently went through jason schleifers animator friendly rigging dvd series. In the series jason talks about keeping arm control objects in world space. Meaning ,he doesnt freeze them out and so the default positions are not zeroed out. he takes it further by using a parent shape command to add shape nodes to the joints themselves which can obviously not be zeroed out as well.

My question is why does he do this? Why world space? How does a animator get back to the bind pose without having to go through presets if he cant zero out the channels? am i missing something or did i misunderstand his instruction?

Im having a related issue where ik/fk matching becomes difficult when working with these controls.

any insight is appreciated.
