Wile is still unfinished and has been classified a "Work In Progress" I still need to tweak the actual model futher, play around with the surfaces, and last but not least, rig him. (Which im not very comfortable with at all, especially in regards to his ears, and tail.

He will look much more accurate with the original Wile E. Coyote once he is rigged, as Wile rarely ever had his ears perked up, and always some nasty expression on his face.

thanks!

thank you!

Howard: A few reference pictures from the net. I probably didn't use as many as I should of. I grew up sketching these guys so my memory served me pretty well.

Leigh: thank you very much! RoadRunner is soon to be done. I'm taking a break and tackling an easier cartoon character "Tweety Bird". After the tweety is done, I'll tackle Road Runner. I'm going on a semi-cartoon craze at the moment. Just try and bear with me :D

telamon: An ACME rocket is definately going to be in the works. And I do hope to animate a few of them. The rest I was planning on submitting to the 3D Festival site for the next free models pack, if they are interested. I'm mainly modelling them for the fun of it, and don't have too much else to do with the characters I model.

I'd do the same.

By the way, is there any restriction in connection with copyrights.. I presume those characters are copyrighted

If not... There will be soon an Elmer J Food soon :D (I'll do it ;) )

Good Question.

There are copyrights on the character designs. However as long as I don't financially profit from the re-creation of the characters it's all good. So merely modelling them for the fun of it is in no violation of the copyright. It's much the same as sketching out your favorite cartoon character in your sketchbook.

Do Elmer!! I'm looking really forward to doing Foghorn Leghorn :D

First off, that's a first rate model. The half shadow is odd, though. Can't figure out how you're getting it to do that.

This is, unfortunately, the biggest misconception of copyright law. The copyright holder has a say as to where and how their copyrighted works are shown and distributed. If Warner Brothers told you to stop showing the coyote on your website, you'd have to do it, even if you weren't making a profit.

So merely modelling them for the fun of it is in no violation of the copyright.

This is true until you publicly post it. Again, WB has final say over where and how their protected works are displayed.

I'm not getting down on you and this is nothing personal. I've just been seeing this argument pop up for years and wanted to share the facts.

Ace Miles had his image of Indiana Jones taking the LW logo off of the altar in a "Raiders of the Lost Ark" setting and had to remove it from his website's gallery of work, and that was even after it was published on the cover of one of the LW magazines...

The only way you can get around this is if you are showing some form of free expression... ie. an editorial cartoon or artistic statement with the character. (Showing just that you can model it is not an "artistic statement," though.)

Again, this isn't anything personal. Just sharing some facts.

Keep up the good work.

I've got to say I'm really eager to see myself ;) However I don't remember clearing for you to use my likeness in your models ;)

Ya-ya lame jokes aside it looks great. What render style do you think you're going to go for? Ya webfox is right about the copyright. People saying it's ok as long as you don't make money on it comes from the same rules as if a teacher doesn't show up 10 min into the class it's a spare... or is it 15min, or 20...?

These are rules of convience but not really grounded in truth normally :(

That being said the chances of being warned by WB are slim as a) you're doing advertising for their product in a way that so far reflects WB interests and b) corps look like real asses when they sue or charge fans.

So as long as he's not loading up on viagara to catch the roadrunner in an animation I'm sure it will be fine. ;) Festivals on the other hand that people pay money to see... different story.

Look fwd to seeing more.

You really got him, that's superb, the NPR is great !

With such talent, I wouldn't bother redoing already existing copyrighted characters, defenetly go and create your own chars !

Kickass whatever :applause:

Wow! That's great. It's exactly the kind of quality I expect to see in the new Looney Toons movie. Show them up!

thanks everyone who replied!

As for animating him, im not sure if I will be doing anymore with him. I've sketched out some original characters i'm wanting to model and animate so I'll probably take it from there.

However since I hate to see any model wasted if anyone here who's capable of rigging and animating would like to have him to play around with, please don't hesitate to ask, as I have no intentions of doing anything futher with Wile E. Coyote
:D
