I tried to save part of an effect in my compositing using cache to disk:

-right click mouse on node;
-cache to disk from menu;
-I don't want to use temp folder...I want to use my project folder, ok?;
-render the comp but...raw format is many expansive for this test;
-re_cache to disk on my node and...click on delete cache button...

at this point all my project folder whit 5 or 6 saved cache frames disappear!

Is this the right behavior for this tool? all the folder?!
on eyeon youtube channel there's a video about cache methods but is many conversational and my english is not good enough to understand, vfxpedia not contain info about cache.

If someone knows a good tutorial for cache porpouses, I appreciate...tnx

Which version and build of Fusion are you using? Can you paste a copy of the cache directory you used when this happened?

z:\folder\project\cache_01\file.raw
z:\folder\project\cache_02\file.raw
z:\folder\project\cache_03\file.raw

?

first of all...thanks for reply,

- fusion version is 5.3 built 55;
- cache directory for this occasionally test is

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\cache_test\DiskCache0000.raw

again, in this "on the fly" test, deleting cache fusion delete my cache_test folder too.

Something you should know. Deleting the cache deletes the FOLDER, not the individual cache files. A common mistake is that people will put multiple caches into a single folder. When they delete one, they lose them all.

Sounds like this might be what happened to you.

Is the "gather sequences" option for bitmaps that instigates to put everything in a folder :).

However, once discovered this "insane" way of acting in fusion, I'll try to remember in future...

tnx guys.
