View Full Version : Maya corruption (possibly light-related now?) using BOT textures....

Hey guys,

I have http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86695 (this thread) in the Rendering forum, but I've started to put together that this might have something to do with lights just as much as it does the render engine.... So maybe someone in here can shed some light? (no pun intended.) :)

Basically, the synopsis is, I am getting these weird curruptions (random patterns) in my renders whenever I stop a render and start another. If I let every render complete, the next one will be fine...

The reason I think it's light-related is because the pattern (see pics in other thread) looks like there's patches with only one light. At first, I was seeing them as patches of black. But now I'm starting to think it has something to do with lights? There's more background in the other thread about the BOT files, etc...

Anyone know of any problems with BOT files and lights in Maya 5.0?

well.... I can share a little experience with u.
I've got this kind of problem when I render large scene with alot of file textures. This even happens in one of the rendering which I've been doing for stahlberg in our latest project. The only way we solve it is make sure that all of the textures files is in ur local drive (not in network drive). U can use filetexture manager script from highend 3d to solve this. It only happens in NT based renderfarm/workstation.
If u are using a unix based (irix or linux). I think I could be other possibilities because we never have this problem in unix based workstation/renderfarm.

Make sure all of ur textures is in square.
Bot texture could solve some of the problem.

Maya's renderer isn't so bad after all.
