hello,

what is the best method to create a space-background to a scene.

just applying a texture to the environment doesnt give it a good look.

also does anyone know of a website with free space textures?

thanks!

What exactly do you mean by "a good space background"? Usually, there is nothing out there to see. Only zillions of stars, and thats all. An that can be quite quickly reproduced with a noise map, and some glow effect....
Or du you want to create some cinematic like space scenes, with nebulas, strange gas formation, color fluctations...
That too can be done with the mixing of several gardient ramps, and noises....

To get some nice looking textures, you can always visit NASA at www.nasa.gov (http://www.nasa.gov) , there you can find really high resolution pictures of nebulas, stars, and other... Look for example for "Hubble heritage"...
The hubble pictures are a bit grainy, so you'll need to fix taht in Photoshop. And they also have strange lens effects thanks to the big zoom rate, so you'll need to fix that too in PS...(Sorry, or in the image manipulation program you're using...)

well for beginning, some stars alone would be fine.

but the question was more on how do i apply them? just in the environment settings?
