hi,

Im trying to render a piece of glass in modo. However, the glass needs to have some reflection but there's nothing in the scene that the glass cld reflect.

in LW, there's a function which allows users to map the reflection img onto the environment of the particular polygon surface itself. Im not referring to the global environment, which modo also has. I've tried mapping the reflection img onto the global environment in modo, but it doesnt seem to produce the result that I want.

anyone has any idea?

thanks in advance!

Add the reflection image as an image map in the shader tree, then set it to reflection colour ? (by rightclicking in the Effect column)
Not sure if this is what you're after.

thanks for the reply! i've tried your method, but the reflection image just looks like it's being mapped onto the surface. it doesnt look like it's a reflection at all.

i've tried to add the image map under the 'environment' but it doesnt offer the 'reflection color' option.

It should work fine in the environment shader in the shader tree. As for the color, doesn't matter unless you have something you want to be specific about, such as gold, and you want all the reflections to be shades of yellow, then you would set that color to the reflection color on the material. There are other ways such as using a gradient as the reflection color set to the angle incidence as well, butt that is a bit more complicated.
