I am looking for tutorial DVDs that will teach the process of combining CG elements with video. I've done a few small tests and they look okay, but I'm looking for some more in-depth information like how to camera match, set up lighting properly, rendering for video, compositing, etc... If there's any tutorial that walks through a complete shot - that would be perfect.

So far I found this one, but I'm not convinced it's what I'm looking for...

Also, if there are online courses that you know go through these materials, then I'm open to that as an option as well.

cmiVFX have some tutorials on Nuke and Fusion, but I haven't viewed them personally so I can't vouch for their quality. Their matchmoving tutorials for PFTrack weren't great, but they've got some solid Houdini lessons, so they might be okay.

What software are you using?

I never heard of their videos before, but they look pretty good. I'm currently using Maya and After Effects. I know AE isn't the best choice, but I don't have a budget for a better compositing application just yet, so I'm hoping the workflows can transfer over.

There's fxphd which is pretty big on Nuke. They also have classes in AE, Fusion, and Flame. Might be worth a look.

Here are some videos off of the Foundry for Nuke which were filmed by the folks over at fxphd.

Digital Tutors also has a bunch of videos on Nuke, which has a PLE you could download for free.

Unfortunately while the layering operations might be the same, the workflow will probably seem alien when moving to a node-based software. However, that's what the industry wants, so it's worth your time to do so.
