View Full Version : actions and colour
iii-d 09-06-2003, 09:56 PM hi
i have the following problem (version 10.5)
i have one action and one object (a ball).
this object is several times in the action as an action object.
for example i modeled a ball and dragged and droped it several times in my action window. now i have an action with 10 balls.
now i want to change the colour of each ball in the action window. the problem is i can only change colour for all the balls but i want to colour them individualy.
in choreography window i can colour them different.
what am i doing wrong?

I think your going to have to create lots of different balls. One for each color you want. Any model you place in a Chor or Action reference the parent model information. This can be very helpful if you want to say. . . adjust the geometry of an object you have placed all over your set wihtout having to re-place them all.
That make sense?

there should be a little toggle next to each action object(shortcut to ball) that looks like a folder tree. It is "show more than drivers"...
Once you toggle it you should have access to the surface properties of the shortcut to ball. Then you can modify the colors.
I don't have A:M open so I can't double-check, but I'm pretty sure that is how it should be. :hmm:

Your doing nothing wrong. Currently action objects are not working properly and the only place you can do this is in a choreography. If you want to get the project completed you will have to either do it in choreography, or do as suggested and use multiple object models.
Oh, and please send a bug report to Steve on this. When enough people report it, it usually gets fixed.

thank you all for the help.
@zandoria
thank you this was the right tip.
my fault was to click the properties in the "action object" (the one with the question mark)
i should have gone to the "model bone" (one step deeper in the folder tree) and change there the properties..

One of the huge cockups in the new interface is how deeply useful things are buried. Just keep clicking those infernal property triangles.
