well...some of you may have seen my progress in the WIP section of the forum...i'm just here to post an image of the very final piece.

this is a much scaled down version of the final image which was rendered @ 4000x2000 pixels using lightwave.

you can download a 1600x1200 wallpaper from my site if you are interested.

comments and crits always welcomed.

Policarpo,

Nice piggies. I like the "Kiss the Chef" hat. :)

I've followed much of your work at the Newtek gallery. I love the way you present each of your pieces. They're all very well designed/proportioned/balanced. Another excellent addition to your portfolio.

Keep up the good work

thanks for taking the time to look at my postings.

i have a question...do you think there might be any value in putting together a little process document which sort of shows the process i went through to get to the end result of this image? you know, a sort of "from concept to completion" article?

thanks again,

Personally, I'm very interested in seeing the process that people take to complete their projects. (sometimes more so than the finished piece) If you're thinking about doing that as an add-on to your portfolio to demonstrate how you work, then I think most future clients/employers would find value in seeing it.

Did you have another reason for illustrating the "concept to completion?"

(Just my opinion)

cool.

that's two votes for an article.

hrmmmm...i wish more peeps would comment here....

the main intention for the article is to just do it.

i'm not looking for work or clients. i'm quite happy where i am right now...and i figure that it will be good practice for me should i ever decide to teach or train artists in the future.

i just thought maybe the article would help illuminate some of the more esoteric aspects of image creation.

and yes...i drew some squiggly lines to previz the final image...once you have an idea and a direction, the rest is up to observation...

Mr. Policarpo, you rock! Your visual diary is great, I go back and look at it every few days. In this cold and savage world full of boring grey GI renders, your stuff stands so far out. I was reading your posts on the Blue Dream Studios boards, and you made me think about experimenting with post-render techniques alot more. So, uhh, thanks :D

This image looks like something you'd find in a souvenir shop in Stowe, Vermont, though they mostly deal in cow memorabilia.

You have mastery of color like few i've seen.
i love the background.
it's simply a beautiful picture.

thanks for the very very kind words my fellow 3D junkies. :D

it's funny that you mention the cows...a colleague of mine suggested i model the entire farm and do a version of Animal Farm in my style.

Hrmm....i guess if i rendered everything to a 6x5 format I wouldn't have to wait so long for them to get done....hrmmm....

i wonder..........

Ah as I gushed in the other thread, really like your stuff and style.

If you're counting, add another one or two for the making-of.. Even just watching and reading how things occur or develop on the visual diary is really interesting, and that's one of the cool things about this forum as well, seeing how other people go about things, especially when they go about them so well.

it looks very photo realistic. only that the colorful background does not have strong enough visible influence on the pggies surface (imho! =)
again, nicely done. I like it :)

thanks Naz. my intention at the end of the day isn't to go for photo.realism... i'm more into setting a mood with the piece which gives it character through style and technique.

granted...i could have maybe pushed this one a little further, but I only had 4 days to do it (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday)...that's what i get for hesitating.

:)
