Hello tomaya

Great picture!

I like the blend between manga & photorealistic imaging.

I assume that the "helmet"-thingy is some kind of metaballs?

Some constructive feedback:

- The skin-highlight on *her* right eyebrow... the texturing is great, but the highlight somehow looks plastic to me. I cannot give any improvement tips on it, but it does not really look like skin.

- *Her* left palm could use some more bump mapping. It looks awfully flat, and even though girls are smooth creatures, they are not that smooth :)

Cheers!
/ Daniel

Hey

I realy like the model and i must say those eyes are very nice. But what bothers me is the neck, it seems way to small and thin, like it's a head on a wooden stick.

Just my 2 cents

Keep it up

the hands have a very unorganic texture...her hends look very plastic.....

tomaya
09-06-2003, 06:49 PM
Big thanks for your crits! The "thing" is made with realflow,in fact it's a fluid and it could be animated, for the render i've used
max5.1 and Vray.
I've to say she is not human...
Thanks again:beer:

Grrrreat image!!!

The hands and face skin its amazing...stylistic yet realistic... :)

But i wonder whats up with the iris, they look kinda distorted...

keep them coming...

i think you got some superb modeling going on, really nice stuff here, the styles real good as well. the only thing that personally bothers me is the complete symmetry on the helmet. I'd expect there to be a few inconsystencies here and there. other than that you just need to finish off the made-to-measure bikini and i think were in good shape.

aenema
09-06-2003, 09:32 PM
wow, this looks great  the hands look very realistic also, although the texture is a tad to flat

tomaya
09-06-2003, 10:00 PM
that's great to have so many comments and views, this picture
is not supposed to be realistic but i like to use realistic ways to do it.
Hi koroko,if the iris seems distorted,it's because of the hdri map,

maybe i should try another one...

Anyway,it's nice to have some point of views about strange things like that!

:surprised

thanks for your feedbacks JDJ ,you're right!i'll try to work on it!
But don't forget, she's not human and it's just an illustration....

I can't stop looking at those eyes !! aaah !

Great texturing... perhaps the background is a little boring/flat?

But her eyes really steal the focus.

tomaya
09-06-2003, 11:58 PM
thanks masel, sorry for the background it's just a still image
with a big blur...so it seems to be flat...

See you
:scream:

tomaya

Max4d: i understand your point of view about the proportions
as i said she's not supposed to be human....

you are SOOO KILLING ME!!! Excellent work! There are stuff you could fix though. Some definition on the palms wouldn't hurt, I dont think she's a baby!! Some deeper wrinkles and besides bump, the hand should also have some colour variations in the grooves of the wrinkles! Something with the bump / specularity looks really wrong above her right eye, looks kinda fake at that spot.

Very nice work. My fav is the eye's, and hair features. but the skin on both the face and hands are not up to the same level as the eye's and hair.

One question, How does she breath?

tomaya
09-07-2003, 10:49 PM
oh yes...that.Well it's a very special material, the air can pass inside it:rolleyes: That's why i like Sci fi...

Can you make the fluid to go in a round fashion where the eyebrows meets the nose .

Critiques make the artists better.

Brett H.
09-08-2003, 03:21 AM
As soon as I looked at this I said to myself "Gotta be Max with VRay" and lo and behold, it is. Damn, that's a nice renderer.

Looking good there, agree about the skin shader comments, but hey, this could work in an animation and noone would think twice.

The eyes are killer, they really draw you in, and the color of the bio helmet (I keep thinking of the stuff they were drinking on the spaceship in the original Alien, or the stuff Uncle Owen and Aunt Baroo drink with Luke on Tatooine--know what I mean? Anyone?)

Anyhow-----Nice work.

Brett

Wow , how did you make that "mask" or w/e it is ... Nice work

tomaya
09-09-2003, 11:06 PM
thanks guys. That "mask" ,acorn,it's in fact a fluid ,made with
Realflow 2.0,the great spanish soft for fluid simulation. At each
vertex, one particle and then ... ...a mesh! I like this method
very much, you can do very complex models with this. And also
it can be animated, particles follow the mesh...

Mothermachine: thanks,Brazil or final render are great too i think
Now with vray, the hdri and the displacement work very well. Also
I've posted another thread with a very fas rendering vray mat:

there:
http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83655&highlight=tomaya

The glass texture is made with a full refraction ans a fog in it,
the object itself takes only 2 minutes to be rendered! A good
trick to do fluids and glass effects...

Hi, I´ve seen your model and I think It´s got life, and it´s for the eyes mostly, could you tell me how to ahieve that reflections in the eyes, cause I´ve tried so many times, so many tutorials and I just get disapointed every time, if just would be so kind of drop me a line and explain me the settings of the material a little bit I´d really apreciate that: kiko3d@hotmail.com. BTW I´m using max, hope your using it to, thanks in advance.
