xvariant 03-20-2010, 07:25 PM Anyone know a good way of doing a dirty glass window that can be rendered in mental ray? im looking for a style you would find in an abandoned warehouse, dirty and yellowish but you can still slightly see through it. thanks a bunch!

well, this should be in the texturing and surfacing forum, as this wouldn't involve any modeling.
1) make a plane.
2) planar unwrap
3) window texture with grunge painted on + alpha channel
4) mental ray architectural material with 1.4 to 1.5 IoR (depending on the density of the glass)
5) plug in your window texture
6) hit render.
