Howdy Folks -

Just recently started a new reel and would love some critiques. Some of the animations I've done for my new reel are linked here. Any feedback that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

you got some good animation man, the soldier one is cool. The iron man feels to fast to put in your reel, i would make it just a bit longer and set it up as a lil fight. the alien laser was cool i like that one the best. the tiger could use some more weight on the front legs, doesnt feel heavy enough. the flip is pretty clean, the second jump leading into the flip he gets ALOT of spring i would put a trampoline or something that gives him that height, the first jump is pretty dead on its just hard for me to buy into the height he gets for the second jump up. the soldier getting sniped can use a more dramatic death, a lil more over the top ya know, it works but i think it can look just a bit better. Keep it up dude...

Thank you for the feedback. I always thought that Iron man animation was a bit fast, just wanted to see if others thought the same. I see what you mean about the tiger, for a 350 lbs animal, it does look a bit lite on its feet. For the springy second jump, I'm just going to animate the faces of the second block to look like a trampoline, good call.

Thanks again, anyone else?

Hi all !

First of all, I like the base of all animations, but I will give you my opinion only on the Jump and Sniper death, since I have few advices in my head :)

Jump:

The second block sounds to be a rock. Despite that, the man can jump as high as the first jump.
You should add more frames on the second jump, from the reception to the third jump. We should see him crushed by their weight, preparing their next jump.

Sniper:

Hide the top of soldier, and look their legs. We can believe the soldier was hurted by a simple punch and collapsed.

Was it an airsoft weapon ?

Then, hide the legs, and look their head: why did his head come back? All the body should point a direction. Imagine the bullet, hiting the soldier, go through the head. It should not "bounce".

Also, I like the Iron Man animation., I hope we could see it with a different camera (?).
Good job.
Good luck.

Well, I really didn't understand all of that, but thank you for your input.

Hey Spooky. Great work on the soldier's run animation and your Laser animation as well. I thought the laser one could have been a second or two longer, but the animation was nicely done.

The tiger animation is a bit off though. The tail seems a bit too static and the head needs a more independent animation rather than just being combined with the upper body. The shoulder blades also need to move in and out of the body. Right now there's no movement to them and it really stands out. It also appears to run like a cheetah, instead of a large tiger (look at the feet when all four are close together). In general, tigers move a lot more "clumsily" than that. Not clumsy in a 3d animated movie way, but in a way that there's a bit of randomness to their feet placement and timing when they land. More exaggeration in the stretch and squash (which is especially critical in cat animations) will really help the animation. Here is a link to show some tigers running to give you some reference. Hope it helps :)
