I'm having a weird decal problem. A picture's worth a thousand words, so...

Notice the artifacts. It's driving me nuts. I can apply decals elsewhere on the sword without problems, just not in that one area (my plan is to have runes running up the entire length of the blade, but this decal was just a test). Any ideas as to what's going on? Here's my prj for anyone who wants to be really nice;):

Managed to straighten out what could be construed as a T in what looks like Tys by tweaking the top CP of the middle spline that runs under the decal and its bottom CP. Haven't been able to fix the rune that looks like a combined h & m and the partial A.

Tweaked the CPs to appear to straighten out what looked like a not completely straight spline in wireframe/shaded mode.

What coordinates does the sword have, so I can tell what scale its at. I mean what is the coord for the point of the blade left side to its right. If the scale is too small, sometimes decals will have artifacts similar to this image.

Also, double check you don't have doubled splines in that area. I mean splines that go *exactly* where already existing splines are, possibly creating patches or maybe not, either way can screw up decaling IME. Try moving each control point back and forth to make sure there are no other point in their exact same coordinate. Move everything out of the way. Then just close the model without saving if you find none.

Kevin: Thanks for checking it out. Perhaps I'll try tweaking more cps to fix the problem (or, if I'm really lucky, maybe Hash will fix this "bug" in the next release:)).

Dearmad: The blade is roughly 8cm wide. I tried scaling the entire sword up and reapplying the decal, but the problem persists. It's got me stumped.

I "think" that the center spline was peaked after the decal was applied, or in the process of rotating the sword to apply the decal the spline was "tweeked" -= anyway I rebuilt the center spline where the problem was and rotated the decal image to make it easier to apply. It looks ok now, though I doubt I put the decal in exactlly the same place you had it.

Dearmad, I dont understand why you say just close the model without saving it. I have run into the double spline problem quite a few times. Probably I do something wrong when copy/flip/attaching. Are you saying dont save it just so you dont have to worry about getting your cps back in the exact spot? Then open it and delete the double spline?
