I'm not being lazy here, I have searched the forum and read relevant material on this issue, but I just need confirmation.

Have decided halfway through a lightwave model to have ago at modeling some parts in Max.

The main problem right from the start is background ref images.

One guy explained a method of using a box as a scale reference and then zooming and panning the refs to fit and selecting lock zoom/pan. This makes sense as it's not too off from what I have to do in lightwave albeit there is an autosize option which will scale all ref images to the one box.

However it doesn't work. As soon as I hit lock zoom pan and okay, the screen refreshes and the ref image has stubbornly moved into an incorrect position.

So what I want to know is, is there a problem with viewport background images. Is it bugged and is it something which will be fixed in version 6.0?

It seems to me to be such an important function to just be ignored or worked around. Much like LW undo's(was).

By the way I do know that I can use mapped planes, but from experience I really like like working this way. Shall I accept defeat?

Thanks ahead

ps Can I configure my mouse to pan and zoom all as opposed to one viewport?(being) greedy with my question here, sorry):)
