View Full Version : geometry not rendering
parel 05-22-2002, 02:25 PM I have a model of a hand to render. The palms and fingers are on the same layer, BUT when I go to render, the palms do not show up in the render. I have checked in the layer attributes and the object attributes- visibility is on. What gives?

a lot of things could happen
did you check the render attributes of the surface in the AE ? or did you switch off double sided ?

ok then lets check the normals :)
select your surface and then display-polycomponents-normals
it is poly isn't it ? at least it looks like

I am using nurbs. If the normals were facing the wrong direction, wouldnt they render out black? Thanks Svenip.

now it gets quit interesting :)
hmm, what have we forgotten ?? maybe it's a layer problem. can you try to assign the palm to a brand new layer ? if you haven't already done that :hmm:

:surprised :hmm: I assigned it to a new layer and it is still invisible.

do you think that the data is corrupted or that the software is causing problems?:curious:

my remote diagnostic would say "YEAH" :)
maybe rebuild the surface new out of it's isoparms. then you have a brand new surface. if you have the same problem after that you're really in trouble with that surface. but don't throw all away. :)
