Is there anyway to apply a displacement using a tileable texture that will uniformly spread across the entire object based on the uvs. Exactly like a texture normally would repeat in maya or max. For example the leather on a car seat. I basically want to apply this base displacement and then sculpt on top of it. I know i could do it later in maya but Id like to see it as I sculpt and hopefully control its depth/intensity. Ive tried using the texture as a stamp and stencil but i just cant get it to be seamless. Also its tough to wrap it around edges cleanly. Im fairly new to mudbox so apologies if im missing something basic.

Thanks!

you have to paint these tiling textuer first in Ps and use it in mudbox to displace the model....
maps --> sculpt model using dismap....

or use the flatten to uv feature to paint the texture...
