Hello, I am actually posting this for my girlfriend so that it will be on the forum quicker. She just registered but we need an answer faster than the 24 hour turnaround for the post. She has an assignment in her digital effects and compositing class. She is supposed to make a realistic particle effect using after effects and has been following a tutorial and has double and triple checked her values in her particular layers. I consider myself a pretty decent after effects user as well and I cannot figure out why the project isn't looking the way it should. The one thing i noticed is that this composition requires a lot of lights for it to look the way it should and I am completely unfamiliar with adobe after effects lighting. From what I saw on her project it seemed as if the lights were not showing up the way they should and with my very basic (hey this light isnt working so lets look at the light's settings way of thinking?)

Here is a screen of her project...

The white crosshair looking things are lights obviously but I do not see them affecting anything around them... Could it be that you have to chose what they affect or do not affect? Like I said I am unaware.... anyways this is what the project is supposed to look like... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

and the link to the actual tutorial is here (http://ae.tutsplus.com/tutorials/motion-graphics/how-to-create-a-surreal-outer-space-nebula/).

Although she is following the tutorial she obviously does not want to simply plagiarize the tutorial and turn it in but is using it for a guideline for her own composition.

Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Like I said she has posted this on her other account so please excuse us if the post is seen twice!!! THANKS :D

Is the Shading enabled in Particular? Looks like it isn't and if so, that's all there is to it.

Thanks for the help. I'll try that tonight and let you know if it worked. I figured it was something simple :P
