View Full Version : WIP Ferrari 360 in Lightwave 7.0
laredawg 09-05-2003, 06:08 AM This is my first SERIOUS attempt at making a car. Decided to go with a Ferrari 360. Not sure about the color though. :) Inspired by Midnight Club 2. Made with splines in Lightwave 7.0 on AMD Athlon 1.3Ghz w/768Mb RAM and GeForce4 Ti4200.
This is also my first post, so hello everyone! Any feedback is appreciated. Let me know what you think.

Here is the back of the Ferrari. I will have a web site soon, so you can view all the pics (if you actually care) :)

Very slick! Looks very nice...the only critique i have are the windows. They look like they are part of the body...there's no real seperation in between the windows and the body...makes it look alot more CG than real. If you made the windows looks as if they actually fit into slots like they do in the real world i think it would really add to the realism. Great start:thumbsup:

I think the 'bludge' over the hood is too much exaggerated.

Are you using blueprints and reference photos? I think the fenders look a bit odd...
Show us some wires...

Thanks for the feedback.
Redsand1080: I know about the windows, they are only one-sided polys made temporarily to fill in the windows. Also I need to seperate the side windows.
mwkmn: Not sure what you mean by bludge?
Jabor: Yes using blueprints. I have attached a picture or the references I'm using.

I thought that might be the case but i just wanted to make sure:) The rest of it looked so good i can't imagine you just slappin half-way done windows on it and being satisfied.

Ok, Laredawg
I think I know what's wrong with your model: you are using too few polygons. There should be more than that to get an accurate car. You are using only 3 polygons for the windshield. I us at least 9 or 12. And I use Lightwave too. Take a look at this:

See how more polygons make the shape more well defined? You should look for that. Try applying some bandsaws...
Here's a tutorial that might help you. You don't have to do the same car he does, just follow the procedures...

Looks good so far !
Keep at, you can only improve. But the fenders at the front do look a bit odd to me and the reflections are a bit exagerated.
