Hi all,

I was just about to make the jump ( thanks to the e-mail reminder)to version 5 from my personal edition when I double-checked the chart of features.

It appears that the voice device is missing from 5.0. I originally purchased MB for this feature, and use it to build lip sync for my Lightwave characters from .wav's.

Is it completely gone, or just not active for "live" audio inputs. Hopefully it will still work with .wav's?

Thanks for any clarifications. I'd hate to upgrade and lose this, but not willing to make the huge jump to the Pro version...

You read the chart wrong, voice lip-sync is indeed part of MB5 - Strandard Edtion so you do not lose this capability when upgrading.

Thanks Michel,

I'm glad I got that wrong! I'll be updating now, can't wait to try all the new features!

But Michel.......
it quotes in many places in the pdf user manual that the voice device is not avaiable in regular MB5
e.g. Page 340

"The Voice device is only available in
MOTIONBUILDER Professional and higher."

This is an error in the documentation.

The Voice device is IN MOTIONBUILDER 5, you do NOT need the Professional version.

Sorry for the confusion

Laurent
